Chairman’s Message

Hello Everyone

Ian Graham will be sending you details of the Annual Show and AGM shortly.  It’s on Saturday 7th May and I hope that as many of you as possible will enter items for the show.  But if you don’t please still come along and get some inspiration for next year.  And join us for tea and snacks after the AGM.

I am pleased to report that we are at long last making some progress with the Dust Extraction System.  An engineer from AES Solutions inspected it earlier this week and we should have a report to help us decide what to do within the next month.

Our Quiet Room (GP2) is becoming more and more cluttered and the Board is of a mind to totally clear it out and start again.  I have had a couple of volunteers to help but we still need more.  I hope we will really get our sleeves rolled up after the show and AGM are over.

The next Club Night will be on Wednesday 27th April at 6.30pm.  John Ruickbie will talk to us about Segmented Turning.   John is one of our most talented  members so I really urge you to come along and see how he produces such wonderful pieces.

And some prior warning that the May Club Night which will be a demo by Chris Pouncy from Robert Sorby in the workshop on Friday 13th May at 6.30pm. Chris has offered to bring personal orders from Sorby and/or Turners Retreat, if he gets them by Friday 29th April.   Their catalogues can be found at http://www.ebookhq.co.uk/robert-sorby/rs_catalogue_2015/ and http://www.turners-retreat.co.uk/ You must email your order DIRECT to Chris at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and you must include Broxburn Woodcraft Club in the text and title of the email.  And remember also to include your own name. There will be no P&P charge; you will receive a 10% discount on Robert Sorby products but there is no discount on Turners Retreat products.

Remember to remove any items you have in the shed by 7th May. Any items in the shed after that date will be disposed of. From May 8th onwards all items must be clearly labelled with the owner’s name and the date of entry and can only be stored in the shed for a maximum of 4 weeks.

Finally the next APASS Course will start on Wednesday 4th May in the workshop.   There are currently one or two places left so if you want to be able to use the bandsaws and the equipment in the back room please add your name to the list in the workshop as soon as you can.

Enjoy your woodcraft
Jim
