Equipment and Consumables - Suppliers

As some of you may be aware, Alex Mutch at The Ullapool Woodturning Centre retired from business in 2014 and has been sadly missed as a demonstrator, teacher and all round good guy.

With the help of Rosie, he managed to supply various cut woods and project pieces from a well equipped shop.

Now the business stock has been sold to Andrew Walters and Andy has successfully transferred the business side to his premises on the Black Isle.

Andy is at present renovating the Old Schoolhouse at Cullicudden and is in the process of moving the stock to these premises.

Everything is very much a “Work in Progress” at the moment, but Andy is selling stock, taking commissions, giving tuition and doing a monthly demonstration from the new site so things are a bit hectic at the moment.

Andy is also the UK dealer for Vicmarc products and carries a stock of some spares so this should be good news for Vicmarc owners in the UK.

We would like to wish Andy great success in his venture and hope to see more of his venture when finalised.

Equipment and Consumables - Hints and Tips

Equipment and Training

Leigh Dovetail Jig

We have purchased a Leigh dovetail jig. John Doonan and Dave Irvine have been tasked with instruction on this.   Members will be given access to the jig, once they have completed a class.

Flat Bed Sander

The club has upgraded the flat bed sander to a heavy duty three phase model.  Club members are reminded that this is a finishing sander only and not intended for the removal of paint or varnish.  If in doubt, consult the session senior before using the machine.

Carving tools

We have purchased a selection of carving tools, including proxxon carvers, hand carving tools and work clamps for club members to use.  We would be very interested in any comments you have about this area.
